The community theatre offerings to thePeoria entertainment roster are quality and plentiful: between Corn Stock Theatre, Eastlight Theatre and Peoria Players Theatre, theres hardly a weekend without a production running. Corn Stocks Summer shows take place under the big top seating around 500 patrons. Eastlight Theatre operates out of the East Peoria High School Auditorium which has been upgraded to include state of the art lighting and sound equipment. Peoria Players offers the more traditional proscenium seating and brings musicals as well as comedies & dramas to life in Peoria.
Other fine arts groups in the area include the Peoria Symphony, the Peoria Area Civic Chorale, the Peoria Ballet plus theatres at Illinois Central College, Bradley University and Eureka College.
In addition to the sports teams who play at the Civic Center,Peoria is home to the Chiefs who play at OBrien Stadium about 2 blocks away from the Civic Center. Affiliated with the Chicago Cubs, the Chiefs are led by Manager of the team, Ryne Sandberg, who is known for his years playing for the Cubs. Theres also the junior A Hockey team, the Peoria Mustangs who play at Owens Center.
