I’m A Alfa Driving Soccer Dad - No Kidding
Being a single dad to a pair of 7 year old twin boys isn’t anything like a stroll in a park. Particularly so now that its little league soccer season all over again. This time yours truly is to be the man in charge for getting the team’s kit ready.
Being one of only three male parents among 13 women in our team’s committee, it was a tough fight to persuade the majority to agree not to change the team’s jersey color from red to a color I’ve never even heard off. But as hard as we tried, we failed to change the team name to The Red Dragons from The Red Flamingos.
After sourcing for team jerseys, and believe it or not - sponsors, I came to realize that our team did not have a logo. I raised this concern of mine with the other two dads and we came to a decision that it would probably be a a superb idea if we could have our own team logo. So we agreed to create a logo concept each and show them to the committee.
The three of us congregated the following weekend with our cutting edge designs and broke out in hysterical laughter, before we resigned to the fact that we weren’t born with creative minds. Evidently my Flamingo looked like a Woodpecker on performance enhancing substances. The so called works of pure creative genius from the other two weren’t much better. One could pass for a piece by Picasso and the other seemed like bored doodlings from a hapless victim of a 4 hour long company meeting. But we went forward and handed the rough designs to the committee anyway.
Although the committee collectively barred the three of us from designing anything club related ever again, they did agree to the idea that the team should certainly have its very own logo. So I enthusiastically went home and Googled logo design puerto rico, selected some of the more established design companies and gave them to the committee.
Now our little soccer team has its own logo. We had patches made for the jerseys and stickers made for the fun of it - thanks to some sponsorship we got from the ice cream shop right beside the park. The team logo itself looks very cool with a an unabashedly red Flamingo standing on one leg with the other leg resting on a soccer ball with its wings crossed.
A little bird told me that next year yours truly will be in charge of water based sustenance. I’m thinking about taking it a step further and am already planning to talk to Gatorade about a sponsorship agreement.
